This work is a response to the killings of Colombian fishermen that have taken place in the Caribbean in international waters, as well as to the threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump against Colombian sovereignty. The piece not only refers to these specific events, but also to the dictatorships in which the United States has been involved, such as through Operation Condor and to historical atrocities like the Banana Massacre in Colombia. In doing so, the work exposes how, for decades, the United States has exploited and intervened in Abya Yala.
